House prices to climb 1% in 2018

Research by Rightmove suggests the average house will increase in value by 1% in 2018, a dip on the 1.2% increase seen this year. The analysis suggests first-time buyers face bigger increases, with the price of the average starter home set to rise 3% over the coming 12 months, while second-step homes will see a 2% climb. Rightmove also revealed that the average asking price for a home in England and Wales currently stands at £302,865 – a 2.6% fall on November, with this marking the biggest monthly dip since a 3.1% decline in December 2012.
