Growing calls for publication of Brexit legal advice

Theresa May is under increasing pressure to publish legal advice on her Brexit deal so that ministers can make an informed decision. Environment Secretary Michael Gove, along with Home Secretary Sajid Javid and Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, have all urged caution over any solution which could prevent Britain from “unilaterally” ending any backstop arrangement, while Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, chief whip for the DUP, and shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer have also both called for the advice to be published. Meanwhile, the FT examines the challenge facing attorney-general Geoffrey Cox in determining whether the UK should sign up to a compromise with the EU on Northern Ireland.
