Drivers to have licence revoked if they fail road side eye test

A police crackdown on drivers with defective eyesight will see motorists immediately stripped of their licence if they can’t read a number plate at 20 yards. New powers introduced in 2013 mean officers can request an urgent revocation of a licence through the DVLA if they believe the safety of other road users will be put at risk if a driver stays on the road.
